A suburban Detroit chemical plant still is on fire hours after several explosions rocked the facility.
Firefighters are letting the fire burn itself out.
The fire at the EQ Resource Recovery plant forced hundreds of residents to leave their homes. Some went to the hospital with breathing difficulty.
Witnesses say a series of loud explosions shook the ground and shot flames and smoke high into the air last night. Romulus Mayor Alan Lambert says one tank exploded then set off explosions in others at the plant.
The company that owns the plant specializes in treating, recycling, and disposing hazardous material.
