Sparrow Hospital is asking Blue Cross Blue Shield to compromise by increasing its payments to Sparrow by six percent instead of 9.4 percent.
Blue Cross Blue Shield officials say they're sticking to their offer of a three percent payment increase, but they say if an independent accountant discovers the insurance company should be paying more, Blue Cross officials say the insurance company will do so.
Both groups say they're at least hoping to extend their contract for 90 days. They have until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2002 to come up with a settlement.
