Fourth of July Is Deadliest Travel Day

By  |

Michigan State Police attribute holiday accidents to speeding, alcohol use, or people not wearing seat belts.

Last year, police say 15 people died over the holiday weekend in Michigan due to car crashes.

However, so far this year there have been about 90 fewer fatalities in Michigan throughout the year and only three deaths over the holiday weekend.

Police attribute the lower numbers to stricter law enforcement, especially of seat belt use.
