The state is allowing people who owe child support to avoid criminal and civil penalties if they pay off their debt between October and December.
People who want to pay up their child support will have to fill out an amnesty request form at their local Friend of the Court office.
It has to be filed with at least half of the owed child support. Any remaining child support must be paid by December 31 when the program ends.
Parents also can avoid penalties anytime they set up a payment plan with the Friend of the Court and make the payments as agreed.
The amnesty program was created by a law passed by the Legislature last year to encourage people to come forward and pay off their overdue child support.
