It was supposed to be the first time all of Lansing's mayoral candidates met in the same room to address public concerns, but one candidate was noticeably absent -- State Senator Virg Bernero.
A representative for Bernero says the timing of the forum conflicted with his work as a senator on the state budget.
The forum where all the candidates were supposed to meet was organized by Lansing's East Side Commercial Coalition.
That's an organization that includes businesses as large as Sparrow Hospital, along with several smaller establishments near downtown.
Bernero is supposed to attend the organization's evening meeting.
