It's apples, oranges, bananas and veggies for the rest of the school year at North Elementary School.
The school recently received $47,500 to put towards the purchase of healthy snacks for students and staff for the entire school year.
Teachers say they hope the grant, which was made available through Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, will help make students more aware of the healthy food options available.
Teachers say they're also hoping to curb childhood obesity and encourage parents to start packing healthier lunches for their kids.
North Elementary School must use all the grant money by June 30, 2002. When the project is completed, educators say they will try to find other funding for the healthy snacks.
