It's been a week of goodbyes, according to Verlinden principal Betty Javorovski, and Thursday night was the gala. In truth, it was a barbeque, but it was much bigger than just school and staff.
They invited students, parents, alums and community members--a reunion that filled the soon-to-be-empty building with 75 years of memories.
Sheldon Lewis, a parent said they feel the school is more than a school, but also a place to meet. They pledge to relocate their community spirit to Riddle Middle's building, where Verlinden's current students will all attend a "new" elementary school in the fall.
