The Windsor Township Planning Commission Wednesday night held a public hearing on a proposed horse facility that would be located on 200 acres off I-69.
Developer Dorian Lange, said the facility would include horse racing and gambling, but also horse shows and other "family-friendly" events.
Opponents voiced concern that the facility would increase noise, crime, traffic, and pollution.
However, supporters turned out as well. They said the facility would help the economy and provide a complex for not just horse racing, but shows and other forms of entertainment.
Lange needs a special use permit to build the track. The Commission has 60 days after the public hearing to submit its recommendation to the Township's Board of Trustees, who has the ultimate say.
Lange said he hopes to start construction by early Fall and racing by Summer 2006.
