Council Member Thankful on Christmas

There will be a change in the Mayor's Office at the beginning of next year, as Mayor David Hollister is stepping down to take a position in Jennifer Granholm's administration.

Lansing City Council member Tony Benavides has a lot to be thankful for this Christmas. His son who he hasn't seen for more than two years is in from Germany and he brought a special little visitor, a new grandson.

Benavides is also in line to take over for Hollister. He said to his knowledge he has the full support of the city council, meaning his dream of becoming Mayor may finally be coming true.

Benavides has been a part of local politics since 1981. He said his background as a social worker taught him to be flexible and informed about issues concerning the common man. These qualities he says will help him once he takes his new position.
