It's not a crash but there's been no boom. Doug Carr, CEO of the Greater Lansing Home Builders Association says its no cause for alarm but there has been a bit of a dip of about 25 percent to 26 percent compared to last year; that's roughly 300 single family homes in the Clinton, Eaton and Ingham County area.
Despite the numbers, Lansing is getting its first new neighborhood in 40 years. East Village held its ceremonial ribbon cutting Wednesday opening up the site where 177 new homes will soon be sitting. The work continues with hopes buying start up again soon.
May's numbers were up and June as well as the remainder of the building season looks promising for homebuilders.
