Just hours after a fuel oil tanker crashes into the Webberville Oil building, schools in the area made the decision to send students home for the day as a safety precaution.
All schools were evacuated on Wednesday at noon. Webberville school officials say they needed to make the decision to ensure the safety of its students.
The high school was evacuated earlier in the day and shared space for 45 minutes with the elementary school. But word came shortly after that students were given the okay to go back inside the building. Once again though, officials decided to send the older students home.
Local businesses in the area say business was slow early in the day, but it picked up as the day went on. Local community members say everyone knows everyone, and they hops those injured aren't familiar faces.
