Gov. John Engler's speechwriter has penned a 421 page "documentary biography" recounting the governor's 32 years in the state capitol. The book was rushed to the printers to have it on the bookshelves in time for the holiday buying season.

The book is divided into three sections covering the governor's early days on the Beal City farm where he grew up with his parents Matt and Agnes. The next phase recounts his rise from state lawmaker to governor and all the stops in between. The final section offers republicans, democrats and journalists the opportunity to assess the Engler years.

The book is entitled "John Engler: The Man, the Leader and the Legacy." Sleeping Bear press in Michigan publishes it.

Engler will be in Ann Arbor on Wednesday to sign the book and launch its sale.
