Sick Teen Gets New Room

Kaitlin Pillars rarely speaks, but her screams said it all when she first saw the room Rochester non-profit Suite Dreams and a team of MSU interior design students created for her.

Doris Pillar says, with tears in her eyes, "Words can express how we feel."

The project, researched and designed with Kaitlin in mind, makes her room more colorful, more interactive, and safer. It will be outfitted with a video monitor system to give her more independence and privacy from her parents.

Coordinator Erica Donnell says, "I see her clap, and I see her smile...I've been waiting for this for awhile...She's so special."
