A bittersweet end to the week for the East Lansing Police Department as Captain Kim Johnson is retiring after 30 years of service.

Captain Johnson played a major role in the department's community policing effort and field officer training program. He also spent time in administration and was heavily involved in the department's hiring committee.

We're told he plans to spend a lot of time golfing and caddying for his college-aged daughter this summer.

Congratulations to him.
