RIVES TWP - US-127, one of mid-Michigan's busiest highways, was shut down during rush hour Wednesday morning due to a serious accident. At around 7:15AM a single car crossed the median and crashed into a wooded area near the Jackson County - Ingham County border. The driver was pinned in the car for several minutes. A life-flight helicopter landed on US-127 to transport the driver to the hospital. That shut down the highway shortly before 8AM until about 8:30AM. The condition of the driver is not known at this time. Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office says that the driver is a 49-year-old man from Mason. No other cars were involved in the accident.
