The most recent elementary and middle school MEAP scores are in. The news is good for the Lansing School District.
For the fourth consecutive year, the LSD brought up scores in reading, writing and math. More than 85 percent of elementary schools and 100 percent of middle schools met or exceeded state standards in English/Language Arts.
Fourth graders made the most noticeable improvement jumping up nine percent from last year. The LSD is now within two points of the state average in that area. Social studies continues to be a problem though; only 15 percent of Lansing fifth graders met or exceeded state standards. We should note the state average is 26 percent.
