Friday night at 8:30 PM a man driving north bound on Meridian road veered off and hit a tree, trapping himself inside the vehicle.
Police and Fire crews worked for forty minutes to unpin the man from his vehicle.
The man was flown to Sparrow hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The victim is a fifty year old white male, at the family's request his name is not being released.
Police believe alcohol and prescription drugs in the man's system are the primary cause of the accident.
