Mayor Virg Bernero's spokesman tells us it's common for him to go to the scene of a tragedy to offer his condolences to the families. At the scene of this shooting on Newark, he arrived to about 50 of the victim's friends and family members.
29-year-old Domonique Ardister leaves behind four kids and dozens of family members.
"I don't want anyone else to feel the way we are feeling right now. I just want my son back," said Ardister's mother Monica Blackwell.
Now police taking another look at a previous case for answers in this case: "We're following quite a few different leads to figure out who the suspect was," said Lansing Police Captain Daryl Green.
Ardister was shot at just over a week ago at the Sunoco on South MLK. He wasn't injured, and the suspect 22-year old Deangelo Johnson is already in police custody.
Blackwell hates to think her son's death isn't the last, but says the anger on both sides is rooted so deep, and with more and more people taking part; she estimates it could be in the hundreds.
"You need to come forward, you need to turn yourself in, you need to ask God to forgive you, and you need to let go of all this before someone else ends up dead," Blackwell continued.
