The East Lansing Police Department Tuesday night released its report on the April 2 riots in East Lansing.
According to the report, 299 canisters of tear gas were fired to control crowds. The report finds the decision to use the gas was "proper."
However, it does make suggestions on how police can improve their response to riots, for example, give people more warnings before firing tear gas or identify police officers better so if a complaint is filed, it'll be easier to determine which officer it's against.
The report is expected to be made available to the public by Wednesday at www.cityofeastlansing.com. It'll also be reviewed by an independent committee.
