About 10,000 students at 146 schools across Michigan will soon have access to laptop computers or other wireless technology.

The grant program called "Learning Without Limits" was announced Tuesday.

Michigan Virtual University President and CEO David Spencer says the program is one of the nation's largest. It's supposed to be the first step toward providing laptops to all K-through-12 students in the state.

Wireless computers don't require the installation of computer stations or the use of cords and wires. That makes it easy to begin using them even in school districts with aging buildings.
