The Return of the Today Sponge

By  |

About ten years ago, the Food and Drug Administration found problems with the manufacturing plant of the Today Sponge. Instead of fixing problems then, the company decided to close the shop.

Now about ten years later and with selling rights belonging to another company, the sponge has been approved for sale by the F.D.A.

Doctors say the sponge is as effective as condoms when used correctly and within the appropriate timeframe. They say it could be a good option for women who cannot tolerate the effects of hormonal birth control forms like the pill or depo-provera.
But it does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases.

The sponge will be available via the Internet in two months and in stores shortly after that.
