Oklahoma Loves GM

Governor Brad Henry led an "Oklahoma Loves GM" rally at the Oklahoma state Capitol today as part of a campaign paying tribute to the troubled automaker.

General Motors operates an assembly plant in Oklahoma City, but will eliminate one shift at the plant and lay off 830 of the plant's 2500 employees.

The plant produces the Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT, the GMC Envoy XL and the GMC Envoy Denali XL.

But GM's stock recently fell to a 12-year low due to poor sales, leading to cutbacks including those in Oklahoma City.

The governor says the rally is to celebrate GM as a great corporate citizen and its work force.
