Add cigarette lighters to the list of things to leave at home when heading to the airport. Beginning Thursday, lighters are prohibited past security checkpoints at all U.S. airports. It's the latest security measure put in place by the Transportation Security Administration.

If you have a lighter on you when you check-in, you'll be asked to either leave it in your vehicle or surrender it before you go through the terminal. All collected lighters will be thrown away. You can't put a lighter in your checked luggage either, but matches are still allowed. You can carry on up to four books of matches.
