Cookie Monster will be cutting down on the number of cookies he eats and he will be eating more fruits and vegetables.
This is just one part of a sweeping health initiative at Sesame Street. It's in response to the growing epidemic of childhood obesity. Cookie's new lifestyle stands out because he'll be dancing to a different tune.
Everyone knows his famous song, "'C' is for cookie that's good enough for me." Those lyrics will now go something like this: "A cookie is a sometimes food, fruits and veggies are an anytime food."
Local pediatric nutritionist Anne DeVitto says, "I think Sesame Street is showing good taste by changing with the times and addressing the issues as they come up in our society, and I think the time has come to make some changes in conjunction with the epidemic of childhood obesity."
Sources tell us Cookie is happy with his lifestyle modification.
