They call themselves "Culprit," and bassist Chad Rabideau says they saw the culprit who stole their bus while they were grabbing a quick bite after a benefit show at the Olde Towne Tavern in Hastings Friday night.
"It was a blonde kid, with baggy pants, and he said 'hey' to me and I said, 'Hey, what's up' and just kept on walking. By the time I got my seatbelt on, he was peeling out," Rabideau says.
It was a wild ride from there until "Culprit" finally gave up the chase, and with it their bus.
Barry county sheriff's deputies found it later in Thornapple Lake. They attempted to fish it out, but eventually chose to wait until it sinks.
There is some good news. The bus is insured. The equipment is safe inside the Olde Towne Tavern and ready for Culprit's next gig Saturday night, and Rabideau says the old adage shines true for the band: The show must go on.
