Firearm hunting season starts this Friday, and several Mid-Michigan hunters said they're planning to skip work to join the hunt.
Some hunters at the Family Shooting Corral in Eaton Rapids said they think the first day of firearm deer hunting season should be considered a national holiday. Many of those hunters said they're planning to put off work until hunting season is finished.
GM will be closed Friday. Representatives said that's the day UAW and GM agreed to observe Veterans Day. Some said it's a coincidence and a lucky convenience for GM workers who plan to participate in hunting season.
One East Lansing barber said he normally shuts down his business during the season, but this year, he's changing his hours to allow for him to join the hunt.
