Jim and Linda Parker stopped at the Great Lakes Region American Red Cross Blood Service. This was their 27th out of 34 stops made to donate at each Red Cross blood region.
Their stop Friday was to donate platelets, a blood product in high demand and in this region in very low supply. The process of donating platelets takes about one and a half to two hours. They remove the components of the blood, extract the platelets, and return the red cells and plasma.
The Parkers' goal also includes encouraging others to join them in donating. If you'd like to donate, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE.
