Campaign Season for United Way

It's campaign season for the Capital Area United Way and officials say donors aren't in the same giving spirit as last year.

Officials say the amount of donors are the same, but the average gift amount is down. They say people are nervous and more cautious about giving during these harsh times.

Local food banks that rely on the United Way for funding and donations are seeing supplies reaching dangerously low levels. They are hoping non-givers will start to become givers this month.

There are 55,000 donors in the tri-county area. Officials say they are at about 75 percent of the goal of $7,050,000. There are about three weeks left in the campaign season.
