Twenty-seven-year-old Claude McCollum has been arraigned for the murder of Carolyn Kornenberg. The 60-year-old Lansing Community College professor was found dead in her classroom Sunday morning.

After reviewing the investigative material developed by the Lansing Community College and Lansing police departments, Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings authorized an arrest warrant for McCollum. The charges are one count of open murder and one count of criminal sexual conduct in the first-degree.

McCollum was a student at LCC, but he was not a student of Professor Kronenberg.

Kronenberg's death was ruled a homicide by the Ingham County Medical Examiner. Details of how she died are pending the completion of the autopsy.
