Grads Want Arbitration

The Graduate Employees Union at Michigan State University is asking for outside arbitration in its current contract dispute.

The union has been negotiating with the University since September on the issue of an improved pay scale. The union wants a pay raise for teaching assistants after four semesters of experience.

The University is refusing raises until after at least eight semesters of experience.

Outside arbitration is the final step in the grievance process for the union.
