Governor Jennifer Granholm has ordered American flags across the state be lowered Monday in honor of an Army captain from Oakland County who was killed in Iraq.

Sean Grimes died March 4 after the military vehicle he was riding in was hit by an explosive device.

The Bloomfield Hills man was a nurse serving as a physician's assistant in Iraq.

Grimes was born in Pontiac. He studied at Western Michigan University and graduated from Michigan State University in 1997 with a degree in nursing.
