The chair of the senate transportation committee believes the toll booth concept "deserves serious consideration," but Senator Jud Gilbert is also realistic enough to know most motorists won't like it.
Rep. Chris Ward of Brighton complains drivers already pay the gasoline tax and installing toll roads would amount to double taxation.
Promoting the idea is the road building lobby. Mike Nystrom says the ideal location for such a project would be I-69, which would catch travelers between Indiana and Canada. He concedes however it will be tough to get votes for it right now.
