Local towing companies towed dozens of damaged cars, pulled vehicles out of ditches and recovered jack-knifed tracker-trailers.
Local auto body shops are now overwhelmed with cars and they are working to contact motorists.
Many drivers spent Thursday trying to locate their cars. Towing companies and automotive service centers say the priority Wednesday night was to assist people first and clear the scene. They would worry about the cars later.
About 20 cars were taken to Preskool Collision Center in Williamston. Damages range from minor fender benders to cars that were totaled.
