Michigan's Plan to Prevent Chronic Kidney Disease

By  |

Michigan is the first state to approve funding towards an initiative to prevent chronic kidney disease.

The most common causes of kidney failure are diabetes or high blood pressure and both can be prevented. The state's plan focuses on going out to communities to make people at risk, especially minorities, aware of the disease and ways to prevent it such as losing weight, eating healthy and exercising.

The plan also includes educating healthcare providers to screen more thoroughly for kidney disease.
