Granholm for Governor

Michigan's next governor will be Jennifer Granholm.

The Democrat defeated Republican Dick Posthumus to become the state's first female governor.

She'll succeed Governor Engler, who is stepping down after 12 years in office.

It's another six years in the U.S. Senate for Democrat Carl Levin. He easily won a fifth term by defeating Republican Andrew Raczkowski.

Returning to Michigan's congressional delegation are two Detroit Democrats -- Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick of the 13th District and John Conyers Junior of the 14th District.

Republican Terri Lynn Land is ahead of Democrat Butch Hollowell in the race for secretary of state. In the race to replace Granholm as attorney general, two exit polls show Democrat Gary Peters and Republican Mike Cox about even.
