Michigan State officials fired head football coach Bobby Williams Monday, following their worst football loss in over half a century.
The 49 to 3 loss to Michigan Nov. 2, was the worst loss since 1947 according to MSU sports information.
The firing comes on the heels of Jeff Smoker’s family announcing the former starting quarterback was battling substance abuse problems.
Williams was one of only a handful of African American head football coaches in major college athletics.
