Tax Scams and Exemptions

This week, the IRS released several tax scams to watch out for. Some include being aware of anyone who promotes large refunds and wants to give you a refund anticipation loan. Also, be aware that thieves can send you fictitious IRS forms in order to get your personal information and steal your identity.

However, there are ways to save, too. A new exemption this year is the option of deducting your sales tax instead of your state income tax, whichever one saves you the most. Also, if you do a substantial amount of work from home, you can deduct some household expenses.
