There was a potentially dangerous situation Wednesday on the campus of Lansing Community College. A suspected gunman possibly linked to a shooting in Berrien County avoided police and ran inside a campus building.
It happened around 10 a.m. at the Office Unit F building on Shiawassee Street. A Lansing Police officer pulled over a black male driving a stolen vehicle linked to a shooting in Berrien County and when the man saw the officer, he took off running into the building.
A receptionist was inside but she made it out safe. Police had the area blocked off for five hours. The special tactics and rescue team stormed the building around 2 p.m. and after one hour of searching they came out empty handed.
Police have towed the stolen vehicle and will turn it over as evidence in the Berrien County shooting. The man driving the vehicle was not found.
