By a vote of 6 to 2 Sandy Allen becomes the 2005 Lansing City Council President.

It's her first time with that title in her 11 years on the council.

Geneva Smith was voted Vice President by a margin of 6 to 2 as well.

Allen plans to tackle the city's estimated $1.8 million dollar budget shortfall as her first priority.
