131K DTE customers without power after storms

DETROIT (AP) -- Utility officials say crews have been working with help from neighboring states to restore power to customers in southeastern Michigan after severe storms.

DTE Energy said about 131,000 customers remained in the dark Saturday morning after the strong wind and rain moved through Friday afternoon and overnight. That's down from about 140,000.

The Detroit-based utility says the power outages are particularly acute in Oakland County, which has 55,000. Wayne and Macomb counties have 55,000 outages combined.

DTE requested and received help from utilities in Indiana and Ohio to work on restoration, which could take several days.
