Levon Pate, 19, of Lansing remained straight faced during his arraignment Thursday afternoon. Pate is charged with two counts of open murder for the October shooting deaths of cousins' Betsy Lowe of DeWitt and Brandy Lowe of Grand Rapids.
The two women were found murdered on October 10th in Lansing's Walsh Park. One week after that police spotted Pate in Delta Township and when they attempted to pull him over for questioning a shootout broke out at the Red Robin restaurant. Police say Pate took a pregnant waitress hostage, both he and the waitress were shot and injured during the incident. Pate face 18 felonies for the Red Robin shootout.
Pate will be back in Ingham County court January 10 for his preliminary hearing and his trial for the Red Robin shootout begins in late February.
