Fitness experts say you should make a plan now and write it down. Keep it somewhere you will see each day. The plan should be specific. You should not just write, "I will eat better," but write out which foods you'll avoid and which ones you'll try to eat more of.
Same goes for exercise: Write out how and when you will exercise each week. And set short-term goals such as sticking to an exercise routine for three weeks at a time. Then reward yourself-not with food, but maybe with new work-out clothes.
The biggest mistake people make is they set unrealistic goals. They try to start out too fast or too extreme. Experts say if the plan is too extreme, most people will only stick to it for about two weeks.
