State lawmakers officially adjourned Wednesday. They adjourned the legislative session sine die, which means "without day" in Latin. It marks the official last day of the Legislature.
Sine die is largely a formality, but it's important because many new laws take effect 90 days after the end of session.
Only a handful of senators and representatives showed up for the final day. They will return January 12.
Representatives will be sworn in for new two-year terms, and senators will begin the third year of their four-year terms.
