State health officials say flu activity is still peaking in Michigan. So far it is the third highest number of cases seen in the past eight years.
There were less cases reported this week than the previous week, but health officials say activity may not yet be on the down slope.
They also announced their plans to monitor the Avian, or bird, flu activity in Asia. The government is testing a bird flu vaccine and has stock-piled two million doses in case of an outbreak.
The Avian flu has killed 45 people in Asia. Right now public health officials say there is not imminent threat in the United States, but they worry the world is overdue for a pandemic.
