Joy Maloney, supervisor of immunizations at the Ingham County Health Department, says they are targeting children under nine years of age to come get a flu shot, especially those ages six to 23 months old, ill children, and kids who are frequently around infants under six months of age.
The Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan has 2,000 doses. They are setting up more public flu-shot clinics for after the New Year. Those clinics are open to anyone over nine years old.
Many experts say flu epidemics are started by and spread to adults by younger children.
