A 13-year-old girl has reunited a woman with the class ring she lost in Lake St. Clair 23 years ago.
Laurie Lukaszewski now lives in Macomb County's Harrison Township, near Mount Clemens. She and husband-to-be Steve were playing in the lake in 1989 when her South Lake High School 1986 class ring slipped off her finger.
The 44-year-old woman tells The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens that they talked about the ring when they visited the site over the years but realized that chances of finding it again were small and diminishing.
Then on Labor Day weekend, seventh-grader Hannah Johnston of Shelby Township found the slightly weathered ring at the very spot.
The Lukaszewskis' boat happened to be in a circle of boats with that of Hannah's parents.
