At Least One School WIll Close in Lansing

By  |

Lansing schools will likely vote to close at least one of six buildings to address a $12 million dollar shortfall in next year's budget.

The schools that may close are Allen, Walnut, Maple Grove, Wainwright and Verlinden elementary schools and the Center for Language, Culture and Communication Arts Middle Magnet School.

Boardmember Hugh Clarke says, "I cannot see how we can address the budget without some consolidations."

The board is scheduled to vote on the potential closings February 17th.
