Educators React to State Budget Proposal

For the first time since 2002 the governor's budget proposal includes an increase in the amount of per student state aid for schools K through 12.
The governor is proposing an additional 175 dollars per student K though 8th grades, and 225 dollars for high schoolers.
That amounts to more then one million dollars in additional aid for a school district like Holt.
Most educators are happy to see the increase, but say the hike in retirement costs and health care almost totally wipes out the additional funding.
The education community plans to give the governor a counter budget proposal in the days ahead.
