The fear that terrorist cells may be operating right here in the United States has some mid-Michigan residents saying the government should keep a closer eye on foreigners in this country.
Researchers at Michigan State University surveyed more than 200 Lansing-area residents one year after the September 11 terror attacks. They found that 72 percent believe that Al-Qaeda has many potential terrorists living in the United States.
Because of that threat, 68 percent say the government should closely watch foreigners in the United States.
Sixty-six percent of mid-Michigan residents say there should be more restrictions on foreigners because of a perceived terror threat.
