A Lansing woman will spend 15 to 30 months in prison for helping her son commit suicide.
Forty-three-year-old Kathleen Holey drove her 19-year-old son and his pregnant 19-year-old wife to an abandoned Clinton County farmhouse. She gave them prescription painkillers. Her son Patrick, died. Jennifer Holey, her daughter-in-law, survived.
Holey says she was helping the young pair commit suicide because they were facing a lifetime in prison after being charged with the rape of a 15-year-old girl.
Holey pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted assisted suicide in August as part of a deal with prosecutors.
Jennifer Holey now is serving a four to 15-year sentence for her role in the rape of a minor. She gave birth to a child in August.
